Nike x Sacai x Fragment LDV Waffle: The best-selling shoe returns redesigned

Nike and Sacai, Sacai and Nike. He rides so much, he rides so much. The alliance between the luxury streetwear firm and the sports brand has become a natural synonym for best sellers, which this summer adds a third, most avant-garde band: the Fragment brand. Designer Hiroshi Fujiwara has a long record of collaborating with both Chitose Abe and the swoosh brand, for which he designed several garments for the Tokyo Olympics. The imminent launch of the new collaboration between the three famous brands – the LDV Waffle model goes on sale in Spain tomorrow, August 24 at 09:00 a.m. – ratifies what we already knew: this limited edition of navy blue and light gray sneakers has its days numbered. The reasons? The exclusivity of these two designs and their more than juicy price (169.99 euros) promise to make them the most sought-after sneakers of 2021... with permission of the Air Force One redesigned by Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton and its 50 versions of the Dunk Low for Off-White.

It is a new version of the 2020 best-seller, the LDV Waffle, which this summer the Fragment firm has reissued to incorporate new materials, such as suede on the toe box and mesh on the upper part. Similarly, the double midsole includes the phrase: "The classic: Fragment x Sacai", which puts the stamp on this limited edition collaboration. The shoe will be available in a navy blue dubbed Darkened Blue, as well as Nike's iconic Light Smoke Grey. In both cases, the shoe retains the iconic details of the previous model such as the double sole, the double swoosh and the double tongue, without forgetting the mix of Nike and Sacai logos on the heel. Now the question is, will we manage to get a pair this time? Read on to find out how to get your hands on the most wanted men's sneakers of 2021.

Nike x Sacai LDV Waffle: the sneakers that sell out in 12 minutes

Nothing happens by chance and there is a raison d'être around the hype generated by the release of these two versions of the same model. Already in 2019, the LDWaffle conceived by the American brand and the Japanese firm commanded by the designer Chitose Abe became one of the most desired sneakers by Internet users. An original model that served to ratify this imminent second installment and that would bring a third with the launch of the colorful Vapor Waffle in the fall of that same year.

The magic of the LDV Waffle lies in its juicy 160 euros. Something that makes them an object of desire... for all those who do not want to wait to acquire them on the resale market. A market with an intricate operation for which many are able to pay large sums in order to get hold of these precious models. Although, as in everything, there are certain tricks to buy one of these two models (or both) before they run out. And we will explain how to get them.

There are plenty of reasons to want to get them. Chitose Abe has a hobby of reconstructing classic clothes and sneakers. And the Japanese designer has achieved it by merging this hybrid between the LDV and the Waffle Racer. In these two models, she combines the upper part of the former with the suede and mesh of the latter: the perfect mix of these two legendary running models. Its details on the tongue –also double–, its laces and the Swoosh, also double, give this model a unique look.

    8. A dose of reality

From Esquire.es we have tried. We wanted to see how and in what way the limited edition market works and the reality is, to say the least, amazing. The chronicle is as follows:

-09:00 a.m. The status of the Nike x Sacai changes from "COMING SOON" to "BUY". Previously, we had already selected the shipping address, payment method, model and size fields. In our case, the white shoes are number 44. It's barely 9:01 a.m. and the Nike.com page starts to fail when it comes to processing the purchase.

-09:01 a.m. We tried up to three times to make the purchase through two payment models: credit card and PayPal. Both modes continue to fail. We attach an example.

    Esquire

-09:02 a.m. We refresh the page and select a new payment method again. Through PayPal we managed to get our request processed. The result? Nike replies: "You're in" but what does this mean? The brand reserves the right to notify you if, at the end of the dance, you will manage to get the Nike x Sacai LDV Waffle.

    SQUIRE

-09:03 a.m. Excited that we've finally achieved our goal, we check the email account associated with our Nike.com profile. There is no valid e-mail or notification of any kind in the inbox. Reality? We have been left out.

-09:04 a.m. We return to the Nike.com page and the evidence that our attempts to get hold of this model have been null. The brand sends us this message:

    Esquire

    -09:07 a.m. Our joy in a well. 😓

-09:09 a.m. We tried one last try through the SNEAKRS mobile app. We select half a number more (44.5) of the same model; also in white. There is availability and, with it, we once again believe that another world is possible... dressed in limited edition sneakers.

-09:10 a.m. We discovered that we are having problems with the payment methods again. We tried again with the same methods as in the web version of the brand. After two mistakes, we managed to pay them. Unlike the first attempts, we verified that in the firm's app we do not receive any notification that certifies that we are part of that select group of winners.

-09:12 a.m. With a difference of 30 seconds, we verified that it is possible to go from elation to disappointment in less than a rooster sings. We attach graphic document.
