CaixaBank, through the financial contribution of the La Caixa Foundation, will distribute a total of 1,871 pairs of shoes through different Huelva social entities, thus accompanying a good number of families in vulnerable situations at the beginning of the academic year. The amount allocated to this action is almost 18,000 euros, distributed in pairs of shoes for children and adults.
The commercial director in Cádiz and Huelva of CaixaBank, Yolanda Vera, the director of the Huelva Business Area of CaixaBank, David Zoido, the Councilor for Social Policies and Equality of the Huelva City Council, Maria Jose Pulido, and Miriam Mateos, delegate of Fundación La Caixa in Andalusia and Ceuta, attended the presentation ceremony, which took place today at the headquarters of the Carabela Youth Association in Huelva.
The New Shoes campaign aims to reduce the economic effort that purchasing footwear on a regular basis entails for many families. The purpose of this initiative is to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable people and families living in extreme poverty.
To do this, basic needs will be covered by providing new shoes to children and adults from vulnerable families, with the collaboration of various social entities in Huelva, such as the Carabela Youth Association itself, Ciudad de los Niños, the Pérez Cubilla Neighborhood Association and the Sisters de la Cruz, among others, as well as the collaboration of volunteers from La Caixa.
For Yolanda Vera, regional director of Cadiz-Huelva at CaixaBank, "our support for this program once again constitutes a firm commitment to continue promoting projects that respond to the needs of our society, such as being close to many families who they have to face important expenses at the beginning of the course. We do it through the delivery of school kits and also new pairs of shoes, renewing like every September the illusion of accompanying many children on their return to school”.
For her part, María José Pulido, Councilor for Social Policies and Equality of the Huelva City Council, pointed out that “once again at the beginning of the school period we wanted to be part of this beautiful social action and deliver these shoes to social entities of the capital with whom we collaborate throughout the year, agents who have always been socially involved and who, in the face of this Covid situation, have doubled all their possibilities of collaborating with the Huelva families who need it most at the moment”.
La Caixa volunteers participate in the delivery of the footwear, making it easier for it to be carried out at the beginning of the school year. In Western Andalusia and Extremadura, more than 1,300 employees, retirees, relatives and clients carry out volunteer activities in training in financial education, child care, support for the elderly and sick, among others.
This is the seventh edition of this campaign that complements other actions carried out by CaixaBank's Social Action in Western Andalusia and Extremadura, such as the distribution of material through the action of school kits, or Comedores con Alma, and with the that accompanies families who are in a situation of vulnerability in the provinces of Cádiz, Huelva, Seville, Badajoz and Cáceres.
