The bet on circular economy is a path of no return in the world of fashion. And Farfetch knows. This industry, one of the most polluting in the world, is immersed in a difficult transformation that will take it on the path of sustainability. There are more and more initiatives that point in this direction: recycling, reuse, production in a sustainable way. All strategies are valid to reduce their environmental impact.
The commitment to circular practices is becoming clearer and the latest initiative of the luxury retailer is part of this trend. Under the name of Farfetch fix, the luxury retailer has launched a luxury accessories restoration service in collaboration with the Restory Restoration Company.
Expert craftsmen will carry out these personalized repairs so that the bags, shoes and leather pieces of large firms look like the first day. Farfetch's service premiered today can be managed through its website. First, it is necessary to fill out the collection form of the Restory, at the desired date and time and indicating the description of the article and the repairs to be done in it, from changing a heel to improving the color or a complete restoration. If desired, you can attach an image of it so that it can be better evaluated.
The Resttory will then send you a budget in which you can review and confirm the different services proposed for each article and, once approved, the restoration process is set in motion. Once the restoration has been completed, the Resttory will return the items carefully wrapped and as if they are ready for release.
This commitment to conscious fashion is part of Farfetch's sustainability goals by 2030, when the global platform wants to be "more circular than linear", referring to such practices. Tom Berry, director of sustainability at Farfetch explained that they are "pleased to partner with the Resttory to offer our customers access to the best luxury catering service. Part of Farfetch's spirit is to be the platform for initiatives that make fashion more sustainable. This partnership will allow our customers to appreciate their pieces a little more and, hopefully, also to make more reflective purchases."
"for a long time we have been inspired by Farfetch's combination of excellence, goals and audacity," explained Vanessa Jacobs, founder and CEO of the Restory in a statement. Boosting the new Farfetch fix platform and promoting more reflective consumption on this scale is the culmination of years of hard work. I'm very proud of this partnership and my team. Farfetch will help a global community of luxury enthusiasts fall in love with their favorites once again. "
