The rise of Pedro Acosta, CFMoto and much more: These are the Moto2 and Moto3 rider grids for 2022

Some time ago we definitively met all the members who will be part of the MotoGP grid for next season, but now we have closed all the categories. Moto3 and Moto2 have already confirmed their respective 30 seats, so there are no free spaces in the world championship.

As we say, there will be 30 bikes on the grid in each of the two small categories of the world championship and 19 of them will be ridden by Spanish riders. In Jerez we already saw the first Moto2 tests, a category that, like the smallest, has been profoundly renewed for the new season.

In Moto3 we will have 13 rookies out of 30 riders on the grid

The great attraction of Moto2 is going to be Pedro Acosta. The reigning Moto3 champion will once again be a rookie in a new category, and the curiosity to see how he adapts to a more powerful bike is enormous. In a category that has lost Remy Gardner, Raúl Fernández and Marco Bezzecchi, anything is possible.

When it comes to looking for favorites, if we ignore Acosta for being a rookie, we should stick with Augusto Fernández, his teammate in the structure that swept 2021 and Sam Lowes as veterans, but let's not rule out a surprise from youngsters like Arón Canet, Tony Arbolino, Fermín Aldeguer, Ai Ogura or Acosta himself.

There will be nine Spaniards in a category in which the great novelty is the entry of the Yamaha Master Camp VR46, a team affiliated with the Iwata structure in MotoGP. In addition to Acosta, riders such as Jeremy Alcoba, Gabriel Rodrigo, Sean Dylan Kelly, Zonta van der Goordbergh and Keminth Kubo will also make their Moto2 debut.

In Moto3 the renewal has been quite profound after Acosta's departure, and proof of this is that 13 of the 30 riders on the grid are going to be debutants. Among them, the Spaniards Iván Ortolá, David Muñoz, David Salvador and Daniel Holgado, who is precisely going to be the replacement for Acosta in Ajo Motorsport, make their debut.

By teams there have also been many changes after the departure of powerful structures such as Petronas or Gresini Racing. The Spanish MSI, the British VisionTrack and the Italian MTA are incorporated into the category. In addition, we will have the Chinese brand CFMoto on the grid, although it is nothing more than a promotional move by KTM.

As for favorites, the responsibility should fall on Sergio García and Dennis Foggia, the two riders who already gave Pedro Acosta a hard time last year. Although without forgetting another veteran like Jaume Masià, who should lead the champion team, or some rookie who will become a sophomore, like Izan Guevara, and who left good feelings.
