Andreu Martí or an artistic song of a technological spirit

Good morning! I am Andreu, enter and leave the umbrella in this cube.

- He told us from the door.

... Andreu Martí Vaquer was born in Palma on June 5, 1996, the same year in which Nintendo premiered the multimillionaire Pokemon franchise, Capcom took Resident Evil for sale, the first game of the Tomb Raider saga was released and also did The KingSNK of Fighters '9.In Trainspotting CineJack Johnson, singer, dissolved the formation of the Los Ramones group after a last performance in Los Angeles, ended 14 years of socialist government in Spain and José María Aznar replaced Felipe González, the Olympic Games of Atlanta were inaugurated, Gary Kasparov was defeatedFor the first time by the Deep Blue Superordenor of IBM.

His father, Gabriel, a native of Palma, has always held steering positions in the hospitality and his mother, Margarita, teacher, also born in Palma. They had two children;Marina and Andreu.

What is this place where we are?

Akira Gallery is a space dedicated to the promotion of pop culture where young artists can show part of our jobs and also bets on offering exclusive products within its concept of "Fanart", in which numerous collaborators participate.

We know that yours was not an easy childhood. The first part of his life was spent in a hospital room

How were those days?

The happiest day of my life was when I was five years old and I could do a normal pipi, until then I had always done it in bags that hung from the sides of my body.

I went through the operating room for up to six times, one of them at three years when one of the openings on the side and at five the other part closed me.I remember the smells, the sounds, the white color.

From its birth, Andreu suffered from bilateral hydronephrosis ureter. It can also be defined as an obstruction for the drainage of urine to the bladder.

This hospital stay did not allow me to develop childhood like that of other children.Being prostrated so long in a bed, the eye movement harmed me, since I barely had a viewing angle to train it.I couldn't go to school and took refuge in my solitude.I liked my sister Marina, three years older than me, came to see me.

How was your adaptation to normal life?

At that time my parents who have played a determining role in my life, worked and I spent a lot of time with the paternal grandparents, Andreu and Joana, my maternal grandmother Margarita, Grandpa Jaume, I didn't know him.Although my mentality was another, I wanted to be like any other child, without fear of falling, I didn't want anyone to feel sorry for me.It was complicated not to have been able to go to classes on a regular basis and now I was finally beginning to do it and adapt.Going to school usually, I began to practice sports.

From seven to ten years at drawing classes

Yes, in my early years I had time to draw but I needed to perfect my technique and until the age of ten I went to an academy.I keep a trunk full of leaves that I drew prostrated in bed. Many of the things around me embodied them on paper, doctors, bats, utensils.Invented stories with characters and gave them super powers.

Andreu Martí o un canto artístico de un espíritu tecnológico

And how would Andreu define student?

He was very educated at school and at home the opposite, an earthquake. At school I didn't question me anything, I attended with interest.Did not suspend any subject.

To the room of that I went to Sagrat Cor, a family school where everyone is known.Although I still like the drawing, from 15 to 18 I don't know why, I left that activity somewhere. At 18 I finished technological bachelor.

And how did the sport be given?

Very well!I played basketball with the Salle at the level of Spanish championship, we made champions of the Balearic Islands, I also practiced football, swimming, tennis, hockey, athletics, handball. As I said I wanted to overcome myself and somehow I wanted to recover lost time.

Let's take a brief walk through your adolescence ...

I was always busy, with sport, with painting. He was a handsome boy who liked people, had a personality that had forged being sick, with a long time to reflect.I felt very sure of myself. In that process, I went from being an incommunicado child to an extroverted and charismatic person.

---

It was a time of doubts, to plan a future and march to Vilanova I the Geltrú to do industrial design engineering ...

Yes, and also mathematics, physical, chemistry.I just did a month and I left it.I was so bored.

Three months after being there I had to do something with my life and enrolled in Barcelona at the European Design Institute (FDI) and it was one of my greatest successes.Although there was a break and I took the opportunity to go to palm and take out the driving and studying card.

He returns to Barcelona and from 19 to 24 years, studies in the FDI, which he describes how;"An oasis of design".

Definitely.I had a very good connection with the professors who boosted me, awakened the creativity sleeping in me, they told me that I could be very creative and began to practice, oil, acrylic, pencil, to paint elements, shoes, sheets, clothes, clothes and everyoneI wanted a drawing of mine, the teachers made me feel safe about myself.

But, life puts it again ...

I had an accident ski.I spent two years of rehabilitation.I lived alone and with some difficulties I learned to go forward. The food or dressing was the most complicated.I thought a lot about that period, reflect, meditate, realize that I shouldn't be in a hurry to live.Who sent was nature. It was already the second warning.

Make your first exhibition in Barcelona ...

It was a cultural house, on a festive day of combined activities, music, literature, art.I presented about 20 drawings of my first abstracts and also some characters.

My teachers were still decisive in guiding me, they saw that I mixed design and art, and the final result convinced them and began to dive in the knowledge of the digital, of the 3D creations.

What would you highlight from your collaboration with Robert Llimós?

As one of the most relevant experiences of my career. They were virtual tasks in Barcelona and I will always appreciate having had this opportunity.

Robert Llimós I Oriol, is a painter and sculptor born in Barcelona and that his professional baggage places him in a privilege space. He lived for a while in New York and Miami and commissioned sculptures for the Olympic game of Atlanta and for the Olympic Village of Barcelona. Many of its creations can be contemplated in numerous spaces in Catalonia and Mallorca. In 2009, being on a beach in Brazil, he said he was abducted by a ship, for more than two hours.

Other notable activities?

I participated in the 2019 and 2020 editions of the Barcelona Festival with the Project (Entremurs) lighting and soundtrack with the IED of Barcelona.

I was muralist in the polls Electronic Estrella Damm from Barcelona.

Individual exhibition at the Nit de l’Art of Pòrtol.

I carried out an activity in the workshop of the Pere Aguadé ceramist in which he also collaborated and was called;Tassons, for the Plou collection, intended for restaurants and inspired by erosion that occurs in the rocks over time, due to the flow of water.

Creation of androgynous sports -inspired sports meshes and in the sports DUBs Model.

We know that in addition to painting, it has other hobbies.

I like hypnotization, I read, I look on the Internet, I inform myself with people who are dedicated to it, I maintain a series of contacts, review documentation, I go to sessions, I have practiced with more than one hundred people and always with satisfactory results, it is something thatIt fills me, that helps me.I have also made some regression sessions.

In a first olfactory review, I receive aromas of restlessness, I notice its impertinence against the prosaic, its survival claws appear at the slightest hint of danger. From his eyes an applied and absorbing look follows, as if he did not lose sight of the presence of the shadow of destiny. His hands describe a symbolic dance, almost a ritual that is repeated every time he answers some of my questions.Surrounded by his works, his comic, suprarealist characters, I perceive a continuation of his sins, his rebellion, his innate energy. My versed heart warns me of that commotion that manifests itself scarcely.

Confess, some of your preferences ...

I will only say some, because there are many and of different reflections;Alec Monopoli, Daniel Arshan, Kaws, Da Vinci, Basquiat, and mainly Turkish artist Eser Gündüz.

Eser Gündüz, developed a first part of his career working in architecture, continued in space painting in the Bauhaus movement, later in the morphology of artificial intelligence. His pieces have walked through the world.

---

Despite his youth and history, Andreu is a constantly evolving individual. He has demonstrated his ability to turn a gray landscape and has placed a permanent rainbow to his sky.Perhaps the way to represent the wind mill as an emblematic element of the earth that saw him born and now in decline, show that spirit of overcoming that regenerates each of his cells. His painting is a personal commitment that glimpses that mandatory concern that each piece must be identified, the artist's commitment. That imaginary train that walks through the world loaded with conceptual ideas, is that Andreu goes up from time to time and gets over the stations that he believes convenient. Its creations are visionary, they alter the flow of the usually correct species.Although many stations are left ahead, he persists in his efforts.

How would you define your day to day with painting?

I go to the study of Akira Gallery in the afternoon, the mornings occupy them by digitized mills, they are traditional prints, my grandfather belonged to an association of friends of the Mallorca Molinos and that may have influenced this land.I also please object restoration.

And as for that other pictorial facet of comics, pop art and conceptual art, there are many hours of study in a long process that requires patience, from the sketch or first drawing through digitalization until reaching the canvas.

Invented characters and some are related to horoscopes, much of my work carried out with acrylic and postca markers.

In your meditation exercises, what do you see when you look inside?

That I am a being who pleases to talk, work to get my own style, inform me, discuss, cause feelings with art.Do not stop discovering, experimenting, learning. There was a time when I thought I was an introspective person, but it's no longer like that, I enjoy contact with people.

We have been talking for almost two hours and for their way of transmitting I understand that your restless soul always has projects underway.

I need to have plans in sight, but life would be very monotonous. In addition to not stopping with painting, in my performance as a designer and artist, I intend to launch something at least curious in the fashion world.I have advanced in a job that I have titled;Careful, with which I intend to convert a giant fabric into an innovative, versatile and conditioned garment for different stations of the year.A multi -purpose garment for women or for men.

It has been a hopeful visit, in which I am satisfied to think that our young artists feel prepared to deal with an insolent future.Marcho convinced that Andreu Martí has instinct to know how to take advantage of his opportunities and skills.

At the exit of Akira Gallery, it continues to rain, so Francisca and I, we adapt to the low umbrella protection subway. The blow of water drops on the black fabric intensifies and forces us to lighten the step to reach the car.
