The creator of "Blusas de Paula Daza" speaks, the account that sweeps Instagram: adds 69 thousand followers

More than 69,000 followers have the Instagram account “Blusas de Paula Daza”, dedicated to the outfits worn by the Undersecretary of Public Health in each report on the coronavirus pandemic delivered by the Ministry of Health.

The person in charge behind the account -to which the health minister Enrique Paris himself alluded- is the industrial designer Francisca Sanhueza, 33 years old.

“The truth began as a very innocent idea,” he recounted in a conversation with La Cuarta. “We were with some friends discussing some blouses that Daza had; fed up color, fed up form. There was a very famous one, with some faces. And we commented that we were being given the opportunity to do an Instagram on a platter,” he recalled.

In fact, its beginning was so modest that they even lost interest for a while. “At first there were two, three likes and suddenly the issue exploded. It was something that we almost felt got out of hand,” she said.

The “suddenly” thing happened in April when a TiKTok user made a video telling who Paula Daza was and “at one point he said ‘and moreover, he has a fan club that uploads photos of his clothes every day.' That's where the issue exploded."

How they work

The young professional and her friends take screenshots of Daza's appearances on television with their cell phones, although thanks to her popularity they now also receive anonymous contributions.

“There are people who, without our asking, share the photo with us. When it appears in a press release in the regions and is talking about something, they send us the photo. And there they always answer: 'Thank you for the contributions,'" he explained.

However, the secret is to “take the photo of the TV as if there was a spectator behind it” and use humorous language in the descriptions and responses. For example, when someone asks them where to buy one of the blouses, the reply could not be other than: "This question will be answered by Undersecretary Paula Daza."

“I think that out there to give it some interest and some humor, a half Siutic language is used. The idea was to make a little satire of it, to make him laugh a lot, ”she acknowledged.

Of course, Sanhueza told La Cuarta that all his work is part of respect. “I feel that in some way it is good that she stays like this because I think that for her it must be strange that someone is looking at her sacredly in each transmission, taking photos of her and describing her. So on that side we have tried to have a super respectful stance regardless of what she says or doesn't say, because deep down, Instagram is for blouses," she said.

“We are interested that she does not look like a monkey vest, because someone can come and insult her and it is not the idea to expose her image for free. I don't know if at some point, due to the turns of life, we got to take eleven to La Moneda with Paula Daza, but I don't know if she would want to know something like that, ”she said.

Paris

Last Thursday, the health minister himself, Enrique Paris, alluded to the account.

Just before the questions from the journalists, the secretary of state gave the floor to Daza saying: “Today she is not wearing a blouse, she is with a green Beatle. Green hope, which is the hope that we have that this pandemic progresses negatively and we manage to overcome it ”.

For his part, Daza simply limited himself to looking at his colleague, hinted at a smile, and both continued with the rest of the report.

“We laughed a lot!” Francisca said. “We never imagined that she would get to that level of knowing the tops,” she added.
