After two years making footing in the digital world, São Paulo Fashion Week returns to face-to-face in its 52nd edition and retakes the position of the largest fashion week in Latin America. Exclusively we show you what happened best among the fifty brands that paraded.
SPFW is a household name for Latin fashion lovers: it was simply the fashion week that introduced names like Gisele Bündchen and Alessandra Ambrosio; it was also the only event in Latin America to be part of the official calendar of fashion weeks.
In a hybrid format that mixed fashion films with in-person shows, fifty brands from all over Brazil met in São Paulo from November 16 to 21 to present the best of national fashion, highlighting ethnic diversity and real bodies on the catwalk. Here we show you the highlights of the week.
TORINNO
Devised for a nocturnal and urban summer, the luxury streetwear brand signed a line for women for the first time, incorporating pieces from the women's wardrobe in the easy chic style . In the color chart, shades of black, white and gray are combined with variations of yellow, green and fuchsia. They commemorate the arrival of summer not only on the beaches, but on warm city nights.
JOÃO PIMENTA
One of the most popular shows is that of João Pimenta, a brand known for its out-of-the-box aesthetics. It proposes a reinvention of the androgynous silhouette and shows how much it matured in the introspective moment of the mandatory quarantine. For the first time, it introduced tailoring pieces in shades of beige and brown, designed for an individual who is not afraid to experiment, who has spontaneity as their essence and the security of wearing what represents their identity.
WEIDER SILVEIRO
The collection includes characteristic elements of the 80s rock subgenre, such as plaid, being the main pattern of the collection. Giving an elegant air to the grunge style, Weider incorporates fabric sportswear into the pieces, bringing pleated models in Jersey, fleece, matelasse and tricot, adding more movement and freedom to his creations.
WALÉRIO ARAÚJO
A pioneer in Brazilian author fashion with a career that is synonymous with creativity and daring, Walério Araújo celebrates his 30-year career with the "Illustrated Night" collection, directly inspired by the Paulista nightlife of the 1990s. The designer explores various accessories and trims in tailoring forms and brings rich textures to the pieces with embroidery in classic prints. The highlight of the night was the actor Luciano Szafir (and ex-Xuxa) who closed the parade with an open suit, showing the public his ostomy bag for the first time, after spending a month hospitalized for health complications.

MISCI
Inspired by the Brazilian kitch scene, the streetwear brand takes elements of everyday life as its starting point. It stands out for a new waist model proposed by the designer: neither high nor low nor medium. The irregular waist has an organic shape in its largest proportion. Inspired by the essence of the Brazilian woman, the parade brought a cast with leading roles of women of different styles, ages and contexts, highlighting Sasha Meneghel (model, daughter of Xuxa).
NERIAGE
Fabrics with soft and light movements define the aesthetics of Neriage, a brand that makes delicacy its essence. Pleating, used creatively on sleeves, necklines and skirts, adds personality to each piece – without losing the minimalist DNA that works as a common thread. The color palette transitions between shades of white, beige and has bright red as its strong point. .
HANDRED
With a strong sentimental appeal, the signature design brand paid homage to ceramic artist Francisco Brennand, with artisanal and affective creations that celebrate nature and typical elements of Pernambuco, the northern region of Brazil. In collaboration with the Brennand Institution, Handred presented an entirely white collection (with different pigmentations throughout the strokes) and with a manual work character, bringing the consecrated singer Lia de Itamaracá to the catwalk.
LINO VILLAVENTURA
One of the most established luxury brands in the country, Lino Villaventuro did what he does best: a dramatic, intense show full of atypical lace. Different materials collide fiercely in the same piece, while textures come to life in an unusual color palette.
ÉSFER
The only jewelry brand to participate in the SPFW, Ésfer proposed a new immersive digital experience that integrates models in a technological environment. The brand develops a family of jewelry that takes the ribbon as its concept of Möbius – which has no form, no beginning, and no end.
APARTMENT03
The brand takes the opportunity to reinforce a surprising, intricate fashion characterized by the use of manual techniques and precious fabrics. Among the fabrics, satin silks, TexPrima crepes and the novelty, 100% cotton twill from Santanense, a fabric from Minas Gerais, developed exclusively for Apartamento03, stand out.
ISAAC SILVA
With clothes without gender and with the aim of dressing all bodies, the designer from Bahia chose Saturday, the 20th – National Day of Black Consciousness, a very important date in Brazil – to present your collection. Colourful, cheerful and modern, the brand also showed a new collaboration with Havaiianas, the well-known Brazilian brand of espadrilles and flip-flops.
LENNY NIEMEYER
Closing fashion week, the Lenny Niemeyer in-person show took place in Rio de Janeiro, in an exclusive presentation for the brand's guests. Celebrating 30 years of history, Lenny proposed her best collection so far: full of modern symmetries and a color palette that works harmoniously and creatively.
