MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi and D.I.D. the renowned Japanese chain manufacturer, have joined their names to create an exclusive chain on one of the manufacturer's most popular models that now sports the laser-engraved '46' of the world champion.
One of the items most subject to wear and tear and exposed to road grime is the secondary drive chain. As ambassador of the Rossi brand, he puts his signature on this product and together they do something that has never been done before.
D.I.D has launched a special chain for a MotoGP legend
The Italian rider's legacy is indisputable. With a long list of successes including nine world championships. It is no secret that the Valentino brand is highly recognized and has to its credit all possible merchandising, such as helmets, clothing, boots, key rings and a long list of products. Even so, he was missing his own chain.
In Motorpasion MotoShould Valentino Rossi retire? The eternal battle between the legacy of a legend and his passion for motorcyclesFor this reason, and after the rider became an ambassador for the brand, the Japanese chain manufacturer recently launched a new chain that is completed with the engraved Rossi logo with laser and that actually hides true high-quality characteristics behind this image.
This D.I.D. VR46 is an update of the well-known 520/525VX2 and its design is based on the technology and experience of D.I.D. in competition. Visually the VR46 chain is different to its previous equivalent but the features are similar to the VX2.
The main difference is that it has silver colored outer links while the inner rollers and plates are gold colored. They also carry the 'VR46' logo and the number '46' on their exterior plates. It presents a design with hollow rivet links, which lighten the whole, and has a high resistance to traction.
It also makes use of special X-shaped seals that seal more effectively than the more common O-rings. X-seals do not deform as much under stress as O-rings and have a smaller sealing surface area. This reduces the energy that the chain digests in its transmission.
The drive chain can be found from 110 euros for the 520 VR46 model and has a tensile strength of approximately 3,720 kg. According to the manufacturer, it is recommended for motorcycles between 125 and 750 cc, while the 525 VR46 has a tensile strength of 4,500 kg and is recommended for models from 400 cc to 900 cc.
