The Sort clothing firm was created by a couple of mountain lovers after the birth of their daughter

Edelweis, Encantats, Noguera, Gall Fer or Àssua are some of the names with which the couple of founders of the Cusart firm have baptized their sweatshirts. The shapes and colors of the garments are inspired by the flowers, landscapes and animals of the mountains of the Pyrenees of Lleida. The same mountains where Anna Falguera Fernández and her partner, Lluís Casals Coll, worked for years. “I have been in the Pyrenees for 22 years. In summer she worked in a mountain refuge and in winter she gave ski lessons”, explains the entrepreneur, who declares herself “a lover of the mountains and adventure sports”.

When her daughter Inda was born, in 2012, Falguera felt that she needed a change of life to be able to dedicate more time to her. The change came from a sewing workshop held jointly with a group of mothers and taught by Falguera's mother. “I am the daughter of a seamstress and the granddaughter of a tailor, so I have grown up among fabrics and cutouts, but it had never caught my attention until I took part in the workshop,” recalls the entrepreneur. "I started sewing for my daughter, then for myself, then for my friends, I started going to fairs... I couldn't stop sewing!", says the co-founder. Cusart was taking shape, and Lluís Casals joined the adventure. An adventure that was born in the dining room of the house and with Falguera sewing at night.

Today, the entrepreneurs have their own premises in Sort (Pallars Sobirà), where they make the garments by hand. When they are unable to satisfy orders, which have increased significantly since the last collection, they go to a workshop located in Bellcaire (Noguera). Their specialty is sweatshirts, but they also sell t-shirts, vests and overalls. They use organic cotton and fabrics from stock factories, always betting on the proximity and reuse of fabrics.

They continue to sell at fairs, but since home confinement due to covid they also sell through their website, from which they reach the entire national territory. They are present in a physical store in Reus and are considering opening their own store. To make themselves known they use the social network Instagram.
