Exports of the "fashion System" from Colombia to the United States were $130.1 million between January and May, an increase of 42.9% over the same period of 2020, which was driven, among others, by the sale of girdles and control clothing, jeans, accessories and swimwear.
According to figures collected by ProColombia, the regions that exported the most to the United States were Antioquia, Bogotá, Valle del Cauca and Atlántico.
Clothing, for example, generated income of $98.9 million, while leather manufactures earned $12.2 million, textiles of $5.6 million and footwear of $2.4 million.
"Colombia is one of the countries that has achieved a strong position in the United States as a fashion supplier of confidence, quality, with good designs, sustainability and flexibility in production volumes," said ProColombia President Flavia Santoro.
Along these lines, more than 50 Colombian companies participated in the swim Week Miami and will also play time in New York, two of the most prominent events in the United States fashion calendar.
"we will continue to accompany national companies in their internationalization process, because there are many possibilities for growth in a market as important as the US market where you can take advantage of the current tariff advantages," Santoro added.

42 Colombian companies participated in the Swin Week Miami, which was held in that U.S. city in person and took place from July 7 to 11.
One of them was Estivo, whose general manager, Andrés Felipe Uribe, pointed out that the company's participation in the fair "is very important to keep moving forward in the process of growth and internationalization."

For Liliana Acevedo, founder of Kaanas S.A.S., participating in the Miami fair helped the company realize that "it is ready to conquer the U.S. market, which values the potential of Colombian products."

Meanwhile, 14 Colombian brands of clothing and accessories for babies and children will be in Playtime New York, the international fair that convenes major stores and boutiques specialized in children's niche between August 1 and 3.
