Pantone has announced “Very Peri” as the color of the year for 2022. Featuring a shade of periwinkle purple, the hue is described as “the happiest and warmest of all shades of blue.”
"Combining the fidelity and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red, this warmest and happiest of all blue hues introduces a powerful blend of novelty," Pantone stated in a press release about the new shade.
While Pantone selected two colors for the 2021 Color of the Year, this year marks the first time in Color of the Year history that the institute has created a new color to represent the global landscape.
“Very Peri displays a playful, vivacious attitude and dynamic presence that encourages fearless creativity and imaginative expression,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a statement.
But how does Pantone see Very Peri's translation to the beauty industry? The institute predicts matte or shimmer statements for eyes, nails and hair "that suggest personal inventiveness and daring imagination."
