Hydrogen peroxide is an ideal and effective product for whitening wood quickly and easily. In addition, it is the most recommended substance for lightening furniture, since it does not damage wood fibers and can be used on any type of wood without the need to rinse, since it evaporates when it dries.
To use this product correctly, you must opt for a high-concentration hydrogen peroxide, that is, from 110 to 130 volume, since not using this type could not achieve the desired whitening effect. Another method to make hydrogen peroxide more effective is to mix said product with ammonia in a proportion of 95% and 5% respectively, or also with sodium bicarbonate.
Follow these steps to change the color of wood with hydrogen peroxide:
- Before applying the hydrogen peroxide on the wood, you must first clean and sand the furniture.
- Rub vigorously and let dry and repeat the action after 2 or 3 hours.
- Then, wipe down the furniture with a cloth soaked in alcohol.
- Once it has dried completely, prepare the hydrogen peroxide mixture and apply it to the furniture when it starts to bubble.
- Finally, let it dry so that the product works properly and whitens the wood.
